Toyota has announced its launch of small car by 2010 is on track. The car will be launched as a sedan and hatchback with both petrol and diesel variants. Toyota is expected to use 1.2 or 1.3 liter engines for the car. So far in its joint venture with Kirloskar Motors, Toyota has introduced successful cars in most segments. It recently came up with the four door Altis, with an international launch. But for now this is the only project that Toyota has been pushing in light of the looming recession.
The small car is expected to have some cues from the innovative iQ launched in Japan, last year. Quality levels are always high in Toyota cars and ride quality was never a problem. But what is expected of this car, is a class leading performance to compete with the Nano. The production is to be based in the new plant to be opened in Bangalore at a cost of million.
