Ashok Leyland Introduces GARUD 15M At Prawaas 4.0 | India's First Front-Engine Multi-Axle Bus Chassis
Ashok Leyland, a prominent name in India's commercial vehicle sector and the flagship of the Hinduja Group, introduced its innovative GARUD 15M bus chassis at Prawaas 4.0, an event organised by the Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).
The GARUD 15M stands out as India's first front-engine multi-axle bus chassis. This new platform is tailored for long-distance intercity travel and offers the largest saloon space among Indian buses. It features a capacity of 42 sleeper berths, maximising revenue per trip for operators. With a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 22,500 kg, it leads its category in this aspect.

Advanced Engineering and Comfort
The GARUD 15M is designed with advanced engineering to ensure comfort during long journeys. It includes a spacious luggage compartment, enhancing its functionality for extended trips. The bus chassis also incorporates front wheel disc brakes, an electromagnetic retarder, and an optional full air suspension with an anti-roll bar for safety and comfort.

The driver’s experience has also been prioritised with features like an ergonomically designed 3-way adjustable seat and an air-assisted hydraulic clutch with a cable shift gear mechanism. These elements ensure smooth and fatigue-free driving on diverse Indian roads.'

The commercial release of the GARUD 15M is scheduled for Q4 FY25. This launch marks a significant advancement in bus chassis technology within India’s commercial vehicle industry.
