The Jawa 42 FJ shares much of its design with the updated Jawa 42 but includes some distinct features. The 42 FJ has upswept exhausts for a more aggressive look compared to the straight exhausts on the standard 42. Both models have LED headlights, but the 42 FJ's unit is restyled. Additionally, the 42 FJ offers new colour options that set it apart visually from its sibling.

The most notable difference between these motorcycles lies in their engines. The Jawa 42 FJ comes with a new 'Alpha 2’ 334 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 29 bhp and 29.6 Nm of torque. In contrast, the standard Jawa 42 has a smaller 'J Panther’ 294.72 cc engine delivering 26.9 bhp and 26.84 Nm of torque. Despite this difference, both models feature a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist function.

In terms of size, both models are quite similar with minor variations. The seat height of the Jawa 42 FJ is slightly higher at 800 mm compared to the standard model's 788 mm. The fuel tank on the FJ holds 12 litres, while the standard version has a larger capacity of 13.2 litres.
The wheelbase on the Jawa 42 FJ is longer at 1,440 mm compared to 1,369 mm on the standard model. Additionally, it rides on an 18-inch front wheel with a wider 100/90-section tyre versus a narrower 90/90-section tyre on its sibling. The rear wheel setup also differs significantly: The Jawa 42 FJ features a wider 140/70-17 inch rear tyre compared to a narrower 120/80-17 inch rear tyre on the standard version.

Braking components also differ between these models. The Jawa 42 FJ is equipped with larger discs: a front disc of 320 mm and a rear disc of 240 mm, both featuring floating calipers and ABS as standard across all variants. On the other hand, the standard Jawa 42 has smaller discs: a front disc of only 280 mm paired with a rear disc of 240 mm.

The pricing reflects these differences in specifications and features. The Jawa 42 FJ starts at Rs 1.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.20 lakh for higher variants (ex-showroom). In comparison, prices for the standard Jawa 42 range from Rs 1.73 lakh to Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
