These Hybrid-powered and CNG two-wheelers are emerging as practical alternatives, without the need for charging infrastructure. Currently, Yamaha and Bajaj are among the few brands offering hybrid and CNG technology in the Indian two-wheeler segment.

1. Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is powered by a 125cc Blue Core hybrid engine that features SMG (Smart Motor Generator). This motor helps charge the onboard battery and works alongside the petrol engine to assist acceleration, producing 8.2 PS of power and 10.3 Nm of torque. The scooter is priced from ₹74,910 (ex-showroom).

Other features include a colour TFT instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation, Yamaha Y-Connect connectivity, 21-litre boot space, full LED lighting, a front disc brake with UBS braking system, and telescopic suspension.

The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is the first hybrid-powered motorcycle in the 150cc sports commuter category. It is powered by a 149cc air-cooled SOHC 2-valve engine paired with SMG hybrid assist, producing 12.4 PS of power and 13.3 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and is well-suited for daily commuting and city riding.

The Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid is a neo-retro styled commuter motorcycle that uses the same hybrid engine as the FZ-S Hybrid, delivering similar power and torque figures. The main difference lies in its design and styling, while most features, such as the colour TFT display, traction control system, turn-by-turn navigation, and auto start-stop system, remain similar.

The motorcycle features a 10-litre fuel tank and offers a maximum range of approximately 510 km. Based on this, the bike could deliver an estimated mileage of around 50 km/l. The Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid is priced from ₹1.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. Bajaj Freedom 125 (CNG)

Bajaj is also offering a unique green alternative to electric scooters with the Freedom 125. This motorcycle runs on a bi-fuel system that supports both CNG and petrol. It also comes with a dedicated 2-litre petrol tank.

The CNG tank is designed to ensure maximum safety and efficiency for riders. The engine produces 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. Bajaj claims that the powertrain reduces emissions, including 25% lower CO₂ emissions, 73.5% lower CO emissions, and 80% lower NMHC emissions. The motorcycle also features a full LED lighting setup, digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, Mono Link rear suspension, and one of the longest quilted seats in the segment.

With CNG, the bike can achieve a top speed of around 90.5 km/h, while on petrol it can reach up to 93.4 km/h. The Freedom 125 offers a combined range of 202 km on CNG and around 130 km on petrol. The starting price of the Bajaj Freedom 125 is ₹91,566 (ex-showroom).
