2024 Jeep Wrangler Facelift Review - Off-Road Specialist Gets Easier To Live With

American carmaker Jeep revealed the facelifted Wrangler to the public in April 2023, nearly seven years after the current version of the SUV (codenamed JK).

Now, over a year later, the Jeep Wrangler facelift has made its way onto our shores. So when the American marque asked us if we wanted to experience the new Jeep Wrangler in its natural, non-tarmac environment, we got behind the wheel in a jiffy.

This facelifted Wrangler's exterior features minimal changes. These include the updated grille and alloy wheel designs in 17 and 18-inch sizes, depending on the variant you choose and the Gorilla Glass windshield for added protection.

The new grille retains the iconic seven-slat layout but features a slimmer profile for the slats and now features an all-black finish. The grille also plays host to the new front parking camera.

The changes to the interior are more extensive with the Wrangler sporting a brand new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Jeep's latest Uconnect 5 OS. The infotainment screen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new infotainment screen has required a redesign of the central air vents for the AC system, Instead of the large units on the pre-facelift model, the new vents are slimline rectangular units that sit beneath the new infotainment display. Also present are new 12-way power-adjustable front seats.

In terms of safety, the new Wrangler gets a host of ADAS features along with the usual safety kit that includes the likes of six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation, automatic headlamps, a tyre pressure monitor, and rear parking sensors and parking cameras.

Underneath the bonnet, Jeep continues to offer the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol Fiat engine and an 8-speed torque converter gearbox as the only option for the Wrangler in India. The engine pushes out 270bhp and 400Nm which is sent to all four wheels by Jeep's Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system which comes with a low-ratio gearbox.

Along with the usual array of driving modes, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Facelift features a new off-road driving mode along with the option to disconnect the swaybar.

During our limited time behind the wheel of the facelifted Jeep Wrangler on a trail, we were able to experience the new off-roading mode for ourselves and found the American SUV to be as capable as ever when it comes to dealing with rough stuff. The swaybar disconnect mode allows for crazy articulation angles while the 2.0-litre engine with its easily accessible low-end torque allows the Wrangler to glide over rocks and ruts with ease.

2024 Jeep Wrangler Facelift Review - Verdict & Final Thoughts

2024 Jeep Wrangler Review

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Facelift may seem like a bland makeover at first glance but the changes to the American SUV make it a vehicle that is a lot easier to live with every day while still retaining its inherent ability to go off-roading with the natural ease of a big cat stalking its prey in the grasslands.

We expect the Wrangler to be its usual old-school SUV self on the road, though we can't really say much on that as the lack of doors and a roof on our test vehicle (all easily removable and get back on) prevented us from venturing onto the tarmac.
