Is the Range Rover Evoque Coming Sooner?
Tata Motors and Land Rover had earlier planned to build the Evoque as a CKD in India but those plans have been set aside for now. The Evoque might eventually be built in India as and when sales volumes increase. There is huge demand for the new Luxury SUV across the globe. There were reports that said JLR had received 20,000 bookings even before it was launched in the market.
The Evoque will be marketed more as a lifestyle vehicle rather than a hardcore off-roader. This does not mean it does not have any off-roading abilities. It is capable of climbing hills even at a steep angle of 45 degrees. It has high ground clearance and individually powered wheels that will assist in handling rocky roads and even desert like surfaces.
The design of the Evoque is quite radical with its hanging roof look and sharp lines. It attracted attention even when it was in its concept stages. It is currently available in the UK with a starting price of £28,000. It is yet unclear how Land Rover will be pricing the Evoque in India considering the 110 per cent excise tax for imported cars along with the frequently changing exchange rates.
