Overall Honda has done a great job with the design flow. The design is nothing spectacular. On the other hand it looks like a clean flowing sedan for sure, unlike its competitors Etios and Dzire Sedans. Lets keep in mind the sedan that is being showcased here is sub-four meter in length which allows it to now avail 12% excise taxes instead of 24% in India.

From the image its clear that the Honda Brio Amaze sedan is nothing but a brio hatchback with a boot. Its competitors like Maruti, Volkswagen to name a few has done the same thing with their models Swift, Dzire, Polo & Vento.

However Drivespark is impressed with this Honda Brio sedan. It definitely looks more like a sedan as compared to the Dzire which seems to have the boot kicked-in from the back side.

From the front profile the Brio Amaze is very similar to the Brio hatchack. One thing missing is the fog lamps which is a must when it comes to India. Let's not forget we are looking at a pro-type and we believe the production model will feature fog lamps.

There is nothing much exciting about the Brio Amaze interiors. It looks very similar to the Brio hatchback interiors. Let's not forget this is an entry level sedan from Honda. Overall the interiors look more plush than its competitors like the Etios and Verito.

The key factor is the engine in the Amaze. Honda is looking to penetrate the entry sub-four meter sedan segment. In order to penetrate this segment and cater to the diesel thirst in India, Honda will debut its all-new 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine.

Honda under the Earth Dreams Technology platform has developed 1.5, 1.6 and 2.2 liter diesel engines. India will receive the 1.5 liter diesel engine in the Amaze and it is believed the 2.2 liter diesel engine will be offered in the Honda Accord and CRV in the coming days.

For now our concentration is on the 4 cylinder 1.5 liter diesel engine and it is believed the engine is capable of churning out 100 horsepower and close to 210 NM of torque. From the mileage front, the Amaze is expected to return 22-24 kilometers per liter.

Honda has developed this engine keeping in mind the traffic conditions in various metros, thus we can expect minimal turbo lag and the engine to pull from as low as 1,000 rpm.

The biggest difference comes in the form a boot. The boot looks spacious for a sub-four meter sedan. From the look of it, the boot capacity seems to be around 350 liters. For the moment we do not have the exact dimensions..

However it looks to have more luggage capacity than Maruti's Swift Dzire.
