Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Convertible Launched
The all new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante can not only lay claim to being one of the more beautiful convertible GT car available now, but it is also among the most advanced convertible in the market.
Aston Martin calls the Vanquish Volante its stiffest convertible ever. In fact, the new Vanquish Volante is 14 percent torsionally stiffer than its predecessor, the DBS Volante. This achievement comes from ample use of carbon fiber. It is, as Aston says, the "first fully carbon fibre-skinned Volante in the brand's 100-year history". Not only does it make the Volante stiffer, but also reduces the number of body panels used and gives the car a more coherent and svelte shape.
All that investment in carbon fiber has made the new Vanquish Volante achieve a weight of 1,845 kg - only 20kg heavier than the coupe. Powered by the same naturally aspirated AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine as the coupe, rated at 565 HP and 620 Nm of peak torque, the Super GT is claimed to be capable of doing 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 295 km/h. Power management comes from the Touchtronic 2 six speed automatic gearbox.
Being a convertible the Vanquish Volante's roof is a critical component. Aston Martin has made use of a triple skin lightweight fabric roof, which meets the full height windshield (a first for Aston) in 14 seconds. The 50 percent larger boot space is not compromised by the roof and retains a capacity of 279 liters throughout.
The new Vanquish Volante incorporates several design and functional elements from the One-77 as well, including rear LED design, the interior center stack and its features and braking system. Price starts at £199,995 in the UK, € 264,995 RRP in Germany, and $297,995 in the US.
