Ford Compact Car Concept To Be Unveiled At Auto Expo 2014
Ford India has released the teaser image of a compact car concept that it will reveal at the Auto Expo 2014 next month in India. The concept will showcase a global compact car, but Ford has specified that it has been designed keeping in mind the specific needs of consumers in India and other emerging markets
The compact car segment is the only one that has grown steadily, not just in India, but also globally, in emerging markets similar to ours, accounting for a third of all car sales last year here. Ford wants to jump into this bandwagon as it estimates it will double it compact car sales from last year to about 2 million by 2018.
Though Ford has not provided any details about the said compact car concept it will most likely be the Ka Concept that was revealed in November last year in Brazil. This becomes quite clear when you compare the headlight and grille design of the car seen in the teaser image to those of the Ka Concept.
The Ka concept was also described as a car featuring global design philosophy that offers good fuel economy, roomy interior, with seating for five and features such as central smartphone docking station and SYNC. Ford could, however, make minor changes to the design keeping in mind the tastes of Indian buyers.
