Mahindra: New Vehicle Platform Under Development In The U.S.A
Tata Motors is not the only Indian car maker looking to go global in a big way. It's rival in the SUV and commercial vehicles segment, Mahindra is just as keen on becoming a global player.
On one hand, Tata has a stronger presence in Europe, largely due to Jaguar Land Rover and its European Technical Centre in the U.K. On the other hand, Mahindra is fast growing its roots, across the ocean, in the United States.

Mahindra has had a presence in the U.S for quite sometime now, in the form of its agricultural and commercial vehicles division. Recently, the company expanded with the launched its first electric scooter, specifically made for the States.
Mahindra's aggressive overseas strategy is spearheaded by its North American Technical Centre (MNATC), based in Michigan. The same facility which is responsible for the development of the GenZe electric scooter.
MNATC is a very active R&D facility, with over 40 engineers, researchers and designers working on various projects, all of which will play a part in fulfilling the company's aim of become a top global automotive brand by 2024, reports AutocarProfessional.
One such project of particular interest is a new vehicle platform that's under development. While no information about this four wheeler platform is know, it will most certainly form the base for several new ‘global models' that should come from Mahindra's stable in a couple of year's time.
While Mahindra does not seem to have any plans to enter the passenger vehicle segment in the U.S, the new platform will more likely form new vehicles for Indian, European and a few other emerging markets where the automaker already has a presence.
The work done at Mahindra's North American Technical Centre is supplemented by the R&D work carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai and SsangYong's facility in South Korea.
