West Coast Customs Will Be Charged For Not Paying Employees
Popular TV show West Coast Customs, who are known for their superior modification jobs will have to face federal authorities and could face coughing up a fine of 150,000 USD. The charges pressed against them are for not paying employees.
It was reported that West Coast Customs were paid low salaries during 2010 and 2013. An investigation was held and certain allegations have turned out to be true. The popular TV show could be in big trouble here.
In the investigation conducted by the Department of Labor in United States Of America, it was found that workers who were supposed to be paid hourly and extra for overtime were compensated with a fixed salary.
There were some instances in which the investigation found that weekly salaries that would account to a merger price of 6 USD per hour. They have been accounted for paying their employees 2 USD lesser than the minimum pay in the State of California.
West Coast Customs pays its employees approximately 7.25 USD lesser than what is suggested by the federal for minimum pay.
Ryan Friedlinghaus, owner of West Coast Customs, will have to pay up 157,592 USD. The entire amount will be distributed among 45 employees. Friedlinghaus will also have to come up with 16,830 USD as civil penalties.
It's shocking that even such a well-known design house known for its extravagant car mods and high profile customers is not paying its employees their due.
