Previously Volkswagen was importing the 1.5-litre diesel mill from its facility in Poland. They will now locally assemble the diesel mill for their vehicles, which adhere to the BS-3 norms. The German manufacturer confirms pricing of vehicles will not change as they had taken it into consideration a while ago.

All engines assembled at the Chakan facility will have to go through several state-of-the-art tests. Volkswagen India have made provision for a Cold Test station, Hot Test bench, Engine Dynamometer, along with an engine test laboratory.
