Video: Audi Q2 Scale Model Showcases Intelligent Automatic Parking System
The technology is created by Audi Electronics Venture (AEV), an Audi AG subsidiary in Gaimersheim, Germany.
German luxury car maker Audi made a 1:8 scale model of its Q2 compact SUV and it took nine months to do it. The scale model was made to demonstrate an intelligent parking process.
Dubbed the ‘Audi Q2 Deep Learning Concept' and was showcased at the Conference and Workshop on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) in Barcelona, Spain. The model will be displayed until December 10.
The study features two mono cameras, facing forward and backwards, and 10 ultrasonic sensors positioned on key parts of its bodywork. The data collected by these sensors and cameras is sent to an on-board computer.
Then it is converted into control signals for steering and electric motor, which enables the Q2 to calculate its destination. After that, depending on the situation, it will steer and drive into the parking space.

Mobileye and NVIDIA are working together with Audi to develop a deep-learning-based software for environment perceptions systems that will be unveiled next year in the all-new A8's central driver assist controller.
