BMW 5 Series India Launch Details Revealed
BMW's all-new 5 Series is set to hit Indian roads soon with a new design and a host of tech.
German carmaker BMW is all set to launch its all-new 5 Series luxury sedan in India. The all-new BMW 5 Series debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Carwale claims that BMW is looking to launch the new 5 Series in India in the month of June. The German carmaker recently conducted a private unveiling for customers in Mumbai.

The new BMW 5 Series sports a more 7 Series-inspired design and sits on the same basic platform that underpins its larger sibling.

While it does not make use of carbon-fibre (unlike the 7 Series), the new chassis combined with the extensive use of aluminium ensure that the new 5 Series weighs 100 kilogrammes less than its predecessor.

The 5 Series range is expected to feature two diesel engines and one petrol engine. The range-topping 530d will sport the larger turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, which cranks out 261bhp and 620Nm of torque. The lower spec diesel and the petrol will both be turbocharged four-cylinder units.

The interiors of the new 5 Series sport leather seats and the dash plays host to a 10.25-inch touchscreen display that supports gesture control and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Prices for the all-new BMW 5 Series are expected to start at around Rs 55 lakh, and the new mid-sized BMW luxury sedan will rival the Audi A6 and the new extended wheelbase Mercedes E-Class (read our review here) when it hits Indian roads.
