Ford GT Competition Series Is The Lightweight 911 Fanatic's Nightmare Car
The Ford GT Competition Series is as close as any driver will get on the road to the Le Mans winning race car.
Just a few days after the interweb started buzzing about the Ford GT Competition Series, the American automotive giant has revealed the track-focused variant of its halo supercar.

So just what is it about the Ford GT Competition Series that is making its European rivals quake in their ultra-exclusive boots. Well for starters; the competition series is a lot lighter than the regular car and according to Ford "was developed with the most hardcore track enthusiasts in mind, providing a tailored set of lightweight features and unique livery to match."

The Competition Series Ford GT comes slathered in carbon fibre. The racing stripes, A-Pillars, side mirrors and the door sills along with the wheels are all done up in the lightweight carbon weave. The lug nuts for the carbon wheels are constructed using Titanium.

Other weight saving measures include a perspex rear hatch which also loses its heavy gas struts and is now manually operated.

Inside, the Competition Series continues with weight saving madness by tossing out the heavyweight air conditioning and sound systems. The dash has been revised as well and uses carbon-fibre while the red paddle shifters use anodised aluminium.

The Ford GT Competition Series in available in six different colours: Frozen White, Ingot Silver, Liquid Blue, Liquid Grey, Shadow Black, and Triple Yellow.

Mechanically, the race-focused GT remains the same with the 3.5-litre turbo V6 kicking out 638bhp. The lightweight Ford GT Competition Series will be displayed to the puvlic for the first time at turn 1 of the famous Daytona 500 NASCAR race which kicks off today.
