India’s Most Exported Car Revealed — But It Doesn’t Sell In India!
India has become the global manufacturing hub for several major automakers and the India's most exported car has been revealed.
In the past few years, India has become a global manufacturing hub for several automakers. Major companies export their products to foreign markets from India.
Now, ETAuto reports that the Chevrolet Beat is the most exported car in the first half of the financial year 2018. General Motors recently packed its bags from the Indian market, but it still produces few cars in India for exporting purpose.

General Motors exported 45,222 units of the Beat in the first six months of the current fiscal year. The American automaker exports left-hand-drive Chevrolet Beat which is manufactured at its Talegaon plant near Pune. The export markets include Chile, Central America, Peru and Argentina.

The new updated Beat was supposed to be launched in the Indian market, but then General Motors decided to quit one of the emerging markets in the world. Chevrolet was also testing the sedan variant of the Beat, the Essentia in the country.

Volkswagen Vento is the second most exported car from India; the German manufacturer exported 41,430 units of the sedan in the first half of the current fiscal year. Ford EcoSport lost its top spot and slipped to the third position. The American automaker managed to export 39,935 units of the compact SUV.

Ford also exports the Figo hatchback and the Figo Aspire compact sedan from India. Both the models improved its position. The company exported 26,331 units of the Figo and 16,081 units of the Figo Aspire.

Hyundai's Creta and Grand i10 retained its fifth and sixth position it held in the previous year. The Korean carmaker exported 25,940 units of Creta and 19,719 units of Grand i10 from India. The Xcent compact sedan does not make it to the top ten list.

The Nissan Micra lost its second spot from the previous financial year and slipped to a lowly tenth position. The main reason for the dip in export is the shifting of manufacturing base from India to France. The Japanese firm exported 13,599 units of the hatchback. The company also exported 13,847 units of Sunny from India, which is in ninth position. Maruti Suzuki exported 18.869 units of Balenoand retained the seventh spot.

DriveSpark Thinks!
India has become a global export hub for several automakers which is inline with the Make In India initiative. Chevrolet Beat has topped the list, but it does not sell in India. By looking at the figures, we feel that if the automaker introduced the new Beat in India, it would have attracted quite a lot of buyers. But unfortunately General Motors decided to shut shop in the Indian market.
