Made-In-India Jeep Compass Scores A Brilliant 5-Star Safety Rating By ANCAP

The safety rating applies to all variants manufactured from September 2017 which is equipped with dual front, chest, curtain and a driver knee airbag as standard. Also, features such as autonomous emergency braking and lane support systems are available as an option on some of the trims.

As for the details of the crash test, the Jeep Compass' body shell retained its shape in the frontal offset crash with well-controlled pedal and wheel intrusions. While the driver and passenger head and neck were rated as good in the frontal offset test, the chest and legs were rated as acceptable.

The Compass scored 14.93 out of 16 in the frontal offset crash test and scored full points in the side barrier and the side poll tests obtaining a total 16 and 2 points respectively. Additionally, whiplash protection was rated as good.

As for pedestrian protection, the SUV scored good or acceptable rating except for the base of the windshield and the A-pillars by scoring 29.01 out of a possible 36 points in this test.

Of the maximum 37 points, the Jeep Compass scored 35.93 points in the ANCAP crash test rating. The ANCAP will move towards adopting standardised testing as per the Euro NCAP format and will be testing the cars on four parameters: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist. The lowest performing parameter of the assessment will decide the final star rating.
