Mercedes-Benz India And Delhi Government Launch Mechatronics Program
Mercedes-Benz India and GB Pant Institute of Technology have signed a MoU to run one-year Advance Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM).
G B Pant Institute of Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mercedes-Benz India to run the one-year Advance Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM).
The program is aimed at educating the Delhi youth with the latest technology and make them employable. The initiative will help prepare the youth with expertise in mechanical, electronics and informatics along with other modern automation technologies.

The Mechatronics training school was started in the year 2002 with the aim of providing trained service personnel and engineers. Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, along with Mercedes-Benz India and the Mercedes-Benz India dealership network joined hands to start the program and train students to address the requirements of Mercedes-Benz technology and innovation.
Only 20 students per centre qualify to take the course every year. Since its inception, over 540 students have completed the program and have been placed on various organizations in India. The program also offers support to Mercedes-Benz India's state-of-the-art operations at Chakan, Pune.

"With the expansion of the mechatronics program in Delhi, we believe a large section of aspiring automotive technicians in this part of the country, will find the right platform to enhance their skills and get directly benefitted from," Roland Folger, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz India said.

The ADAM course will be offered under the Automobile Discipline offered by G B Pant Institute of Technology. The primary plan is to start the course with a single batch of 20 students, and the selection of candidates will be strictly as per merit through an Entrance Test conducted by the college under the supervision of Mercedes-Benz.
Engineering Degree or Diploma holders are qualified to appear for the entrance test. Certificates for the successful students shall be jointly issued by the authorities of the college and the company. Mercedes-Benz India has already imparted training to the faculty members from GB pant for more than a year.
The MoU was exchanged between Mercedes-Benz India and G. B. Pant Institute of Technology, Delhi on October 25, 2017, at the Delhi Secretariat office in the presence of Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of N.C.T of Delhi and Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Manish Sisodia said, "Delhi Govt is making all efforts to bring in the best of global companies to impart knowledge and provide hands-on experience to our students so that they do not lag behind with any of their competitors in the market.
We have tried to link our vocational studies at the school level with the higher education so that the students can acquire maximum knowledge on the subject matter. I am sure such ventures will help us in our endeavour to produce students with a skill of class quality."
