The Indian wing of the Japanese automaker, Nissan India has announced that it will hike prices of its entire product portfolio in India, starting from January 2018.

Nissan India will increase the prices of all the models under Nissan and Datsun brand by up to Rs 15,000, which will come into effect from January 1, 2018.

The increase in prices will vary depending on the model and variant. Nissan has decided to hike prices due to the increasing input and manufacturing cost. Currently, Nissan retails products ranging from Micra hatchback to the Sunny sedan and Terrano compact SUV in the country.

    Apart from that, Nissan also retails its flagship model, the GT-R in India, which is priced at Rs 2 crore ex-showroom. Under the Datsun brand, the company sells GO, GO+ and Redi-GO hatchbacks in the Indian market.

    Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, Jerome Saigot said, "With the rise in input and manufacturing costs, Nissan has decided for a price hike across all the Nissan and Datsun models with effect from 1 January 2018. The revised pricing will help us to optimise our manufacturing efficiencies and continue to serve our customers pan-India."

    Nissan is not the only company to hike prices from 2018, automakers such as Mahindra, Skoda, Ford, Jeep, Volkswagen, Tata Motors, Isuzu and Toyota have also increased the prices from January 2018.
