New Porsche 911 GT2 RS Will Produce More Than 630Bhp; Thanks To A New Technology
The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS will produce more than 630bhp or probably more; thanks to water injection technology.
A new Porsche 911 GT2 RS is all set to be launched soon. The previous GT2 RS producing 604bhp rear-wheel-drive fury could sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS is apparently faster than its predecessor claimed to churn out more than 630bhp. The new GT2 RS will use the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre flat six from the 911 Turbo S.
To assist the power output, Porsche will introduce a water injection system same as the one utilised in the BMW M4 GTS. Andreas Preuninger, Head of GT car development said that the engine isn't merely a Turbo S engine with more boost. Although it will have more power output, the unit also receives beefed-up internals, larger turbochargers, and a titanium exhaust.
Like the previous GT2 RS, power will be sent to the rear wheels through Porsche's PDK dual-clutch gearbox. Purists might not be happy about the loss of a manual; however, RS models have always been about flat-out performance and lap times.
PDK indicates that the GT2 RS can utilise Porsche's locking differential which will help handle all that power. Weight will be lower compared with other 911s, although final measurements haven't been revealed yet.
The new GT2 RS will also make large use of aero tweaks, comprising a large rear wing, and carbon ceramic brakes as standard equipment. Development is finally winding up, which means we could see the car launched sometime this summer.
