Skoda India has commenced bookings for the performance-oriented Octavia RS model for Rs 50,000, and the Octavia RS will be launched on August 30. DriveSpark has come to know the details through a reliable source.
Deliveries of the new Skoda Octavia RS will commence shortly after, mostly by the first week of October.
The soon-to-be-launched Skoda Octavia RS is based on the recently launched facelifted Octavia, but with sportier cosmetic updates and a powerful engine. Cosmetic updates include sportier bumpers, side skirts, bigger wheels, and dual exhausts.
Coming to the part which matters, the engine, the new Skoda Octavia RS will be offered in both, petrol and diesel guise. The petrol power plant is a 2.0-litre unit capable of producing 227bhp and 350Nm of torque, with the help of a 6-speed manual or through a 6-speed DSG gearbox.
The diesel guise of the Skoda Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops 181bhp and 400Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheel through a 6-speed manual or via a 6-speed DSG gearbox. Also, Skoda is offering an optional all-wheel-drive variant of the Octavia RS diesel.
To help reign the power, Skoda is offering an electronically limited slip differential as standard equipment on both engine options. Also, the new Octavia RS has a limited top speed of 250km/h.
