Tata Motors’ Tamo Racemo Wins German Design Award 2018
Tata Motors' Tamo Racemo sports coupe concept car has won the German Design Award (GDA).
Tata Motors showcased the Racemo two-seater sports car concept under its new sub-brand, the Tamo at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Now, the Tamo Racemo has bagged its first award.
The Tamo Racemo has won the prestigious German Design Award (GDA) in the Gold category for International Excellence in 'Exceptional Product Design.'

The Tamo Racemo was designed at Tata Motors' Italian Design Studio in Turin by borrowing the design elements from the company's Impact Design language. The concept sports car is based on the Moflex platform which enables the automaker to integrate large-scale parts efficiently.

Tata Motors Claims that the Racemo is the India's first globally developed ‘phygital' car, a combination of physical and digital worlds. The concept model is also India's first connected car; it is powered by Microsoft which comprises of cloud computing, analytics, geo-spatial and mapping and increased human-machine interface.

Previously in August 2017, Tata Motors shelved the plans of Tamo Racemo to cut costs and focus on the commercial vehicle business. The Tamo lineup also included a small city car and an electric crossover underpinned by the same Moflex platform.

The German Design Award was launched in 2012 and is considered as the reputed design competitions in the world. It has a unique nomination process and invites only those products which stand out from the crowd due to the quality of design.

CEO and MD of Tata Motors, Guenter Butschek said, "Winning the prestigious German Design Council's Gold Award for Automotive Design is a proud moment for us and is testament to the skill and passion of the global Tata Motors Design team. A perfect blend of Italian sensuality and Indian ingenuity, the Racemo is the first innovation from our sub-brand TAMO."
