Beat That Faraday — Tesla Model S P100D Sets Record 0–60mph Time

The Tesla Model S P100D set an insanely quick 0-60mph sprint time of 2.275507139 seconds when it was tested with its latest Ludicrous mode update by MotorTrend.

The manic Model S also set the fastest times for the sprint to 30mph (48.28km/h), 40mph(64.37km/h), and 50mph(80.46km/h) from standstill with times of 0.9 seconds, 1.3 seconds, and 1.7 seconds respectively.

The Model S is the first ever car tested by MotorTrend to breach the 2.3-second barrier for the 0-60mph beating the likes of the Hypercar Holy Trinity of the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Ferrari LaFerrari and the McLaren P1.

However, don't expect the Tesla to get even quicker anytime soon as Elon Musk has previously stated that Tesla won't be expanding the battery pack capacity any further than the current 100kWh.

The Tesla Model S P100D had to fight off an upstart to reclaim its crown of the fastest 0-60mph sprinter. The car in question was Faraday Future's FF91 SUV which claimed to be milliseconds faster than Tesla's official reported time of 2.4 seconds.
