A new study on people's driving habits has exposed that a very high percentage of people use mobile phones while driving, although nearly everyone admits that using cell phones while driving is dangerous.
The survey conducted by NGO SaveLIFE along with international research agency Kantar Public found nearly 47 percent respondents admitted to receiving calls while driving.
The study covered 1749 drivers in eight cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Bengaluru which included respondents of two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and truck/bus drivers.
Among these respondents, 47 percent confess to receiving calls while driving. The study also exposes that 34 percent tend to apply sudden brakes when talking on the phone while driving.
Also, almost 20 percent of respondents admitted to having had close calls or having experienced road accident due to the use of mobile phones while driving.
Additionally, 96 percent of the respondents, felt insecure as passengers if the driver was using a cell phone while driving.
