Honda HR-V Facelift Unveiled; Will Rival The Hyundai Creta In India

The facelifted Honda HR-V gets a tweaked front profile that combines a new grille with a thick chrome strip and a large Honda logo in the centre. The HR-V facelift features new triangular LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and a new front bumper with revised fog lamp housing.

The top-spec variants of the facelifted HR-V get LED fog lamps, while the base variant receives halogen lamps. The new HR-V gets the new Honda Sensing safety feature as standard on the top variants.

The HR-V will be powered by the current set of engines: 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol hybrid, 1.8-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel. When the HR-V is launched in India, the crossover will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units which currently powers the City sedan in India. Honda is also debuting the 1.6-litre diesel unit with the upcoming next-generation CR-V in India, which could be employed for the HR-V.

The Honda HR-V will compete with the Hyundai Creta in India and to an extent will give a stiff competition to the new Jeep Compass as well. With stiff competition, Honda is expected to offer the HR-V with premium features such as the sunroof, touch HVAC controls, probably even the Honda 'Magic Seats' which is offered for the global market.

Thoughts About The Honda HR-V Facelift

The new Honda HR-V facelift looks sharper than before, and along with features such as Honda Sensing, the HR-V is an excellent product for India. That said, Honda has been losing its market share in the recent past in India with other global automakers offering a better package. Also, bigger players like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki are introducing new and premium products in India.
