Tata Power & Hindustan Petroleum To Set Up EV Charging Stations At HP Fuel Pump Outlets
Tata Power & Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will set up electric vehicle charging points at HP fuel pumps and various other locations in the country. The new move by the two energy companies is to promote electric vehicles in India at a faster pace.

Tata Power & HPCL will plan, develop and operate charging infrastructure for cars, rickshaws, two-wheelers and heavy vehicles which run on electric power. The new collaboration also aims to learn and innovate more in the field of renewable energy.

MrPraveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, shared, "We are delighted to announce our partnership with HPCL. It is a significant move towards expanding our services to our customers beyond conventional boundaries."

"By servicing electric vehicles through the proposed charging stations across India, Tata Power will be playing a crucial role in enabling a stronger penetration of EVs in the country, thus fulfilling our commitment to power India's future in an environmentally sustainable way", he further added.

Rahul Shah from Tata Power shared that the company has been the front-runner to propagate the change towards sustainable energy and aim to continuously grow their EV-charging infrastructure footprints through this. "Our association with HPCL will help us to scale our EV infrastructure at the national level as well as provide our customers with world-class services", he said.

Meanwhile, Rajnish Mehta from HPCL stated, "At HPCL, we are a firm believer in business diversification and being future ready. A major impediment to electric vehicles adoption is the range anxiety which needs to be addressed through the establishment of nationwide charging infrastructure. We believe that a robust network of charging stations is very critical for market acceptability of EVs which will also ensure last mile connectivity and thereby facilitate widespread adoption of EVs."

Tata Power with its focussed approach towards sustainable and clean energy and wider outreach across the power value chain, provides an excellent opportunity for an integrated oil and gas company like HPCL to collaborate for promoting the e-mobility initiative. HPCL intends to leverage on their vast marketing infrastructure network in the form of retail outlets and other locations for setting up of electric vehicle charging stations on a pan-India basis.

Thoughts On Tata Power & Hindustan Petroleum Setting Up EV Charging Stations
The new initiative by Tata Power and Hindustan Petroleum to set up electric vehicle charging points at various HP fuel outlets will tarnish the popular myth that petroleum industries are retarding the growth of EVs. The main reason why India is still not a very successful market for electric vehicles is the lack of proper supporting infrastructure; charging station network being the main requirement. The collaboration between Tata Power and Hindustan Petroleum will hopefully bring a change to this.
