Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift To Sport Stong Hybrid Engine – Mileage Figures Will Blow Your Mind
The next-gen Swift hatchback has been spotted testing a few times now and numerous spy shots of the next-gen hatchback are circulating on the internet. That being said, we expect the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback to make its debut in 2024.

As per the latest reports, the upcoming next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift will get strong hybrid engine options as well. Known internally by the codename YED, this next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift will get a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine. This power unit has been codenamed Z12E.

This new strong hybrid powertrain is expected to deliver more than 35km/l of fuel efficiency in the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback. In comparison, the outgoing iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Swift delivers a maximum fuel efficiency figure of 22.56km/l, whereas the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV with a strong hybrid powertrain is rated to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 27.97km/l.

On top of this strong hybrid powertrain, the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift will also be with the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine from the outgoing model. This engine in the current model produces 89bhp of power and 113Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options are likely to include both manual and automatic options.

Also, Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged engine with 110bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. It is also worth mentioning that the Suzuki Swift sport is also being tested in India and this sportier version of the Suzuki Swift which is available in international markets comes with a more powerful 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 128bhp of peak power and 230Nm of torque.

Analysing the spy shots of the upcoming next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift, the model sports an evolutionary design and noticeable changes include pulled-back headlamps with LED DRLs, a stronger shoulder line that neatly merges with the tail lamp, a new SUV-like clamshell bonnet, a larger front grille, wider air intakes that have been now positioned lower, more pronounced wheel arches, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

It is also worth mentioning that the wheelbase of the next-gen Swift seems to have been slightly increased to improve the interior space and high-speed stability. Moreover, the model looks slightly wider and a tad bit lower as well.
In terms of features, we expect the upcoming next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift to come packed with a long list of features and advanced safety systems along with a pure EV mode in the variants equipped with the strong hybrid powertrain.

We expect the feature list on the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback to mimic the newly launched Maruti Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback and Grand Vitara SUV with the inclusion of features such as a 360-degree surround-view camera, heads-up display, rear AC vents, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, electrically operated seats, and a few more.

Since the next-gen Maruti Suzuki hatchback will be based on an advanced version of Maruti Suzuki's Heartect platform, we expect the hatchback to have a better emphasis on safety as well.

Thoughts About The Upcoming Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift
Given the highly competitive hatchback segment in India, we expect the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback to be launched by mid-2024 in the Indian automobile market. Also, the optional hybrid powertrain will attract lot more buyers as well.
