Tata Motors Deletes This Fuel-Saving Feature From The Tata Punch – All You Need To Know
Tata Punch quickly gained traction in the Indian market in India and become one of the best-selling Tata passenger cars in the country. Now, Tata Motors has mechanically updated the base variant of the Tata Punch SUV.

As part of the mechanical update, Tata Motors has removed the start/stop system that turns off the engine while stationary to save fuel. While many may feel this tech slightly annoying, especially during a hot afternoon, the tech has been somewhat good at its intended purpose.
It is also worth mentioning that the start/stop feature on the Tata Punch SUV can be controlled via a switch beside the steering wheel.

Speaking about Tata Punch, the automaker recently announced that the company has successfully rolled out more than 1,18,000 units of Punch SUVs in the country. Moreover, the Tata Punch is currently the most affordable passenger car in India with a 5-Star safety rating from Global NCAP.

One of the reasons for the Tata Punch's 5-Star safety rating could be traced down to its ALFA-ARC platform that also underpins the Tata Altroz premium hatchback. Moreover, the Tata Punch comes with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, Cornering Stability Control, ISOFIX child seats, first-in-segment 'Brake Sway Control', and many more.

On top of that, measuring at 3,827mm long, 1,742mm wide, and 1,615mm high, the Tata Punch SUV is slightly smaller than the Tata Nexon SUV and the Tata Altroz premium hatchback.
In terms of features, the base 'Pure' variant of the Tata Punch SUV comes with features such as front power windows, manual AC, ECO mode, a pair of ORVM-mounted turn indicators, and a few more. However, a music system and steering-mounted controls can be added by opting for the 'Rythm' pack.

That being said, top-spec variants of the SUV comes with many features such as a semi-digital instrument console, a large 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, iRA-connected car tech, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, natural voice recognition function for voice commands, smart keyless entry, push-button start/stop, power-operated ORVMs with auto-folding, cruise control and many more.

The Tata Punch SUV is powered by an uprated 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. This engine is a 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 84.48bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 3,300 rpm. Also, the Tata Punch comes with a choice of either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Thoughts About Tata Motors Removing The Start/Stop Feature
By axing this fuel-saving feature from the base variant of the Tata Punch SUV, Tata Motors could face slight resentment from climate activists. However, this feature could be done in favour of keeping the prices competitive or it could be done to overcome the ongoing semiconductor shortage.
