Top 10 Car Manufacturers In India – October 2022
Over the years Maruti Suzuki has been the undisputed sales leader in the passenger car segment and the last month was no different as the Indo-Japanese automaker sold almost 3 times that of the next favourite car manufacturer in the country. Overall, most car manufacturers recorded strong YoY sales figures.
Moreover, the top 10 car manufacturers alone sold more than 3.27 lakh units of their cars in October 2022. In comparison, these manufacturers sold just 2.51 lakh units in October 2021.

Maruti Suzuki (1,40,337 Units)
Maruti Suzuki has yet again dominated the passenger car segment in India by managing to sell 1,40,337 units of its cars in October 2022, resulting in a YoY sales increase of 28.8 per cent. On the other hand, MoM sales figures dipped by 5.4 per cent as Maruti Suzuki sold 1,48,338 units in September 2022.

Hyundai (48,001 Units)
Though Hyundai is India's second favourite car manufacturer, the South Korean automaker has been struggling to keep its second spot in recent times. In October 2022, Hyundai managed to sell 48,001 units of its cars, resulting in YoY sales growth of 29.7 per cent. However, MoM sales figures dwindled down by 3.4 per cent.

Tata Motors (45,220 units)
Tata Motors has been giving tough time for Hyundai in the recent years in a chase to become the second favourite automaker in India. In October 2022, Tata Motors sold 45,220 units, narrowly missing out the second spot by a few thousand units despite registering 33.3 per cent YoY sales increase. However, MoM sales figures went down by 5.1 per cent.

Mahindra (32,226 units)
Mahindra has been consistently showing strong sales growth in the recent years. On October 2022, the SUV manufacturer sold 32,226 units of its passenger vehicles, resulting in registering the best YoY sales increase of almost 61 per cent. However, the MoM sales figures took a slight hit of 5.9 per cent.

Kia (23,323 units)
Kia has been displaying very strong sales growth in the Indian automobile market despite being a relatively new player. In October 2022, Kia sold 23,323 units as opposed to 16,331 units sold in October 2021, resulting in a YoY sales increase of 42.8 per cent. However, the MoM sales figures witness negative growth at 9.8 per cent.

Toyota (13,143 units)
Thanks to rebadged Maruti Suzuki cars, Toyota has been able to attract buyers from the budget spectrum and rack up decent sales figures. In October 2022, Toyota sold 13,143 units of its cars, resulting in 5.7 per cent YoY growth, but the Japanese automaker also witnessed a strong negative sales growth at 14.5 per cent as the automaker sold more than 15,000 cars in September 2022.

Renault (7,778 units)
Renault has been gaining some decent market share after the launch of models such as the Kiger SUV and Triber MUV. In October 2022, Renault managed to sell 7,778 units of its cars, resulting in MoM sales increase of 2 per cent. However, YoY sales dipped by 12.7 per cent.

MG Motor India (4,367 units)
MG Motor India witnessed a strong YoY sales growth of 52.5 per cent as the company managed to sell 4,367 units in October 2022. Moreover, MoM sales figures also grew by 14.7 per cent.

Volkswagen (3,510 units)
Volkswagen narrowly edged ahead of Skoda to secure the 10th spot in this list by managing to sell 3,510 units of its cars in October 2022. Moreover, YoY sales figures improved by 14.1 per cent, but MoM sales figures for the German automaker fell by 14.5 per cent.

Thoughts About The Top 10 Car Manufacturers
While most car manufacturers in this list witnessed decent YoY sales growth, it is worth mentioning that only 3 manufacturers registered a positive MoM sales growth. However, we expect the MoM sales figures to improve in the coming months.
