Kia Sonet Facelift: Teaser Confirms ADAS Tech
Kia India is poised to shake up the SUV market with the upcoming facelifted version of the Sonet SUV. A recent teaser video from the company has confirmed that the Sonet will feature Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology.
Previously, the Hyundai Venue was the first sub-4m SUV to offer an ADAS suite. Now, Kia is following suit by introducing similar active safety features in the forthcoming facelifted Sonet. Besides this welcome addition, the company has also hinted at key design tweaks in the facelift model.
One of the Sonet's main selling points has been its wild design, and the new facelifted model looks set to build on this strength. The changes to the Sonet's design appear to be positive, with the new facia boasting larger LED DRL signatures, a redesigned grill and front bumper, and the inclusion of LED fog lights that offer a sleek and calming effect.
The new Kia Sonet facelift teaser gives us a look at the revised rear tail lights. These now feature a connecting LED bar and a revised LED signature. The rear indicators appear to be LED-based this time, mirroring the ones found on the Seltos. Whether these are sequential or not has yet to be confirmed.
Inside the car, the infotainment setup appears to be the same as the current model. However, the instrument screen is now fully digital and looks very similar to the one found in the Seltos. This screen features two digital circular dials for speedometer and tachometer, along with a dedicated space in the middle to show various functions, including details related to the ADAS.
With the introduction of ADAS, the Kia Sonet facelift becomes the second vehicle in its segment to include this advanced safety technology. Kia has yet to confirm whether the Sonet will get the same suite of 17 features as the larger Seltos, or the suite of 8 ADAS features that are found in the Hyundai Venue.
The teaser video from Kia showcased Forward Collision Warning and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist that works with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Other ADAS features that are found in the Venue include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert.
Kia is likely to continue with the same engine and gearbox offerings as the current model. These include a 1.2L 4-cylinder Kappa petrol, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol, and a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo diesel. The Kia Sonet facelift is set to debut on December 14th at 12 noon.

The Kia Sonet facelift will be competing with the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the Venue. With its daring design and advanced safety features, the Sonet facelift is sure to make a significant impact on the sub-4m SUV market.
