Mahindra Thar.e Concept Teased – Debut On August 15
Mahindra has teased the upcoming electric iteration of the Thar off-road SUV ahead of its debut on August 15 in South Africa. As per the teaser shared on social media, this upcoming concept model is called Thar.e.
Analysing the teaser, the upcoming Mahindra Thar.e will sport squarish headlamps and taillamps with 3D styling. Also, it is safe to expect the model to come with bold-looking front and rear bumpers with prominent-looking tow hooks.
That being said, the speculations about the Thar.e concept have become extremely wild with rumour mills working at full capacity. Many even claim that the upcoming Thar.e concept will come with a quad-motor setup with each motor driving each wheel.
If true, this setup will enable the upcoming Mahindra Thar.e concept to perform extremely well in many situations. Also, this setup will enable the model to 'Crab Walk', where each wheels turn towards the same direction for a diagonal motion.
It is also rumoured that the upcoming Mahindra Thar.e concept could do a 360-degree turn much like an army tank. This is done by rotating the opposite side wheels in opposite direction to each other.
That being said, one of the most insane claims revolves around the powertrain, which is said to be sourced from Rimac. This may sound insane but this is a possibility at least on the concept model.
This is because the Mahindra-owned Pininfarina Battista hypercar uses the same powertrain as the Rimac Nevera hypercar. So, the Indian automaker has a positive relationship with Rimac. Though it is a sin to expect the hypercar powertrain, there is nothing wrong in expecting a few technologies from it.
That being said, Mahindra is being tight-lipped about the specifications of the Mahindra Thar.e, and there is almost no insider information regarding this upcoming concept as well. That being said, given its electric powertrain, we do not expect the upcoming Mahindra Thar.e to use the body-on-frame construction.
Speaking about Mahindra's global event, it is scheduled to be held on August 15 in South Africa. Furthermore, the event includes the unveiling of the Scorpio N pickup and top-tier stuff.
