Mercedes G 400d Launched In India At Rs 2.55 Crore - Time For Three-Pointed Adventure?
German luxury carmaker Mercedes has launched the G 400d SUV in India. Priced at Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom), the Mercedes G 400d is offered in two variant levels - AMG Line & Adventure Edition.
Bookings for the new Mercedes G 400d are now open at Rs 1.5 lakh with deliveries set to start in Q4 2023. Bookings for the new G 400d will be first made available exclusively for existing Mercedes-Benz customers.

Both variants of the G 400d are propelled by the most powerful diesel engine ever made by Mercedes - the OM656, a 2.9-litre, single turbo, inline six-cylinder. Under the muscular bonnet of the G 400d, the diesel powerplant churns out 325.8bhp from 3,600 to 4,200rpm and 700Nm of peak torque from 1,200 to 3,200rpm.
The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. The Mercedes G 400d sprints from 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds and tops out at 210km/h.

The new G 400d also gets 241mm ground clearance, 45 degrees maximum gradeability, 700mm maximum fording depth in water and mud passages, and a special off-road 'G' driving mode.
As mentioned earlier, the new Mercedes G 400d is offered in two variant levels - AMG Line & Adventure Edition. Both are priced at Rs 2.55 crore with the Adventure Edition specially tailored for the Indian market.

The first of the two - AMG Line - gets quite a few highlight features like multibeam LED headlamps, stainless steel spare wheel cover, 20-inch alloy wheels, bash plate in silver, sliding sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, widescreen driver's display, Burmester surround sound system, sliding sunroof and ambient lighting in 64 colours.
The Mercedes G 400d Adventure Edition is targeted at customers who love outdoor activities and are ardent off-road enthusiasts. The kit on this made-for-India special edition shows the kind of audience it is targeting.

The Adventure Edition sports a roof rack with C profile rails, a removable ladder at the rear with anti-slip coating, 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in silver along with a full-sized spare on the tailgate, door handles with embossed logo, puddle lamps, Professional line exterior package and a multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather.
The new G 400d Adventure Edition is offered in 25 colour options including four that are exclusive to the model. These Adventure Edition specific colour options are G Manufaktur desert sand non-metallic, G Manufaktur vintage blue non-metallic, G Manufaktur travertine beige metallic and G Manufaktur south seas blue metallic.

Final Thoughts About The Mercedes G 400d
The Mercedes G 400d adds another new option for luxury off-road enthusiasts in India. While the AMG line variant seems best suited for the everyday grind, it is the Adventure Edition of the G 400d that gets our motor running.
