Tata Harrier & Safari Secure 5-Star G NCAP Safety Rating - India's Safest SUVs

Tata's flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, have passed the Global NCAP crash tests with flying colours, securing a full 5-star safety rating.

The Harrier and Safari (which is an extended Harrier with three rows of seats) underwent the rigorous testing procedure and emerged with the highest scores for any car tested under G NCAP's Safer Cars for India program.

The Harrier and Safari are the first models from Tata Motors to be tested under the new, stricter Global NCAP testing protocol. Both SWUVs received high scores in adult occupant protection, where they earned 33.05 out of a possible 34 points.

While some may ask how the Safari and Harrier compared with the likes of previously tested vehicles that scored 5 stars, this would not be a fair comparison. This is because the latest testing rules, which came into effect a few months back, are a lot more stringent than the ones that preceded them.

In the frontal offset test, Global NCAP found that the Harrier and Safari offered good protection for the driver and passenger's head and neck as good, while the driver's and passenger's chests received an adequate protection rating.

In the side impact test with a deformable barrier, both SUVs offered "good protection" for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. In the side impact pole test, both SUVs were found to provide good protection for the head and pelvis. While protection for the stomach was deemed adequate, chest protection was deemed to be marginal.

The Harrier and Safari also performed well in the child occupant protection tests, scoring a total of 45 out of the 49 available points on offer. Both SUVs were tested with dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child, both seated facing rearward and the Child Restraint System (CRS) was found to offer maximum protection in a side impact crash.

As standard, both the facelifted 2023 Tata Harrier and 2023 Tata Safari provide a host of safety features as standard. These features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Safety Control ISOFIX child seat anchor points and seatbelt reminders as part of the standard safety along with many more features.

Thoughts About The Facelifted Tata Harrier & Safari

The facelifted Tata Harrier and Safari not only bring new designs and a lot more tech but come with a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP under that firm's even more rigorous testing norms.

With Indian car buyers becoming even more conscious about safety, the high-scoring performance of the Safari and Harrier will draw a lot more customers to Tata showrooms this festive season.
