Among the off-road community, it's common to see beefed-up versions of SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, the Maruti Gypsy/Jimny, and the Mahindra Thar. These vehicles are often equipped with oversized tires and lift kits to tackle rough terrain more effectively.

The latest creation to catch the eye of this adventurous crowd is a Toyota Innova MPV that has been converted into a formidable 4x4 beast, making waves in the off-road scene.

Toyota Innova's Off-Road Transformation

The transformation of the Toyota Innova MPV into a formidable off-road juggernaut has been captured in a video that's been making rounds on the internet. Uploaded by Mihir Galat on his YouTube channel, the video features an in-depth look at the modifications carried out on the Innova, as well as a test drive to display its newfound capabilities.

Deepraj Chari, the brains behind this daring project, is no stranger to extreme vehicle transformations; he previously crafted a Monster Maruti 800 that has also been highlighted on our platform.

What strikes you first about the modified Innova is its towering stature and impressive road presence. The vehicle has been fitted with a bespoke metal bumper, designed specifically for the rigors of off-road excursions.

Sporting enormous 37-inch tires mounted on steel rims, the Innova has been lifted by a significant 1 to 1.5 feet, making entry more akin to climbing than stepping into the vehicle. A notable modification includes a shortened wheelbase, achieved by altering the chassis.

As part of its transformation, the Innova has been converted into a 3-door MPV, with the rear door removed to better suit its off-road purpose. The suspension system has received an upgrade as well, with many components sourced from a scrapyard. The custom suspension setup compensates for the vehicle's increased height, while additional reinforcements have been added to minimize body roll.

Under the Hood and Beyond

The engine of the Innova has been swapped out for a more robust powerplant from a Tata 407 truck, chosen for its simplicity and mechanical nature. Additionally, the power steering setup has been borrowed from the Mahindra Scorpio, further enhancing its off-road capabilities. The Monster Innova 4x4, now residing near the Goa-Maharashtra border, has proven its grit on challenging terrains, performing quite well without any significant issues.

During the test drive, the vlogger noticed that the modified Innova had a unique driving experience. It felt like driving a truck because it was higher off the ground and had different handling. Although it has the same name as the regular Innova MPV, the driving experience is very different and it feels more sturdy on the road.

Inside, the changes are equally evident—the absence of the third row and the repositioned second-row seats provide additional space and comfort for passengers. The Innova is wrapped in a green camouflage design, seamlessly blending with the off-road environment.

This unique build is likely the only one of its kind in India, showcasing a level of modification rarely seen in an Innova. Towards the end of the video, Deepraj reveals that this Monster Innova was crafted for Shivaaz farm, intended to serve as an off-road experience vehicle for guests staying at the property.
