Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Revealed - The New Prado
Japanese carmaker Toyota has revealed the all-new Land Cruiser 250 as well as the updated retro-style Land Cruiser 70. The Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is expected to make its way to India as the Land Cruiser Prado.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 250 marks the return of the Land Cruiser to the American market. The last Land Cruiser the Americans got was 200, not the 300 that is currently on sale in India. The new 250 also marks the first time in 14 years that the Prado SUV has been updated.

When it hits the streets, the Land Cruiser 250 will be offered with an array of engines, some of which will be aided by hybrid setups. The engine used will also depend on the region the new SUV is being sold.
The petrol powerplants start with a 2.4-litre turbo four-pot that pushes 277.5bhp and 430Nm of peak torque that comes attached to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In hybrid guise, the output rises to 326bhp and 630Nm.

The other petrol engine on offer is a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine. This engine pushes out 161bhp and 246Nm of peak torque and is mated to Toyota's 6 Super-ECT automatic gearbox.
There is a single 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine on offer which will be offered with a mild-hybrid setup in some markets. This turbo diesel engine churns out 201bhp and 500Nm of peak torque and will come paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Land Cruiser 250 is 4,920mm long, 1,980mm wide and 1,870mm tall with a 2,850mm long wheelbase. The new Land Cruiser 250 is 95mm longer, 105mm wider and 20mm shorter than the previous Land Cruiser Prado. The wheelbase has also grown by 60mm compared to the previous Prado.
The interiors of the new Land Cruiser 250 have been given a thorough upgrade. The new SUV shares quite a bit of its parts with the larger Land Cruiser 300 and sports a digital driver's display and a large widescreen touchscreen infotainment display.

The Land Cruiser 70, which has been in production since 1984 also received a few upgrades. Toyota has given the 70 a new grille and rounded headlights and the new 250's 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel joins the 4.5-litre V8 oil burner under the bonnet.
