New British Car Receives Double-Figure Orders On Second Day Of Concours On Savile Row

The CALLUM SKYE, a multi-terrain electric vehicle, was unveiled on the first day of Concours on Savile Row by British car designer Ian Callum. The vehicle garnered significant attention, with double-figure orders placed on May 23. Callum expressed his satisfaction, noting the event's effectiveness in connecting the public and potential buyers with the showcased vehicles.

Another highlight of the event was the substantial financial support pledged for the restoration of Spitfire AA810, the world’s oldest unarmed military reconnaissance aircraft. The fuselage was displayed at Gieves & Hawkes during the event. Tony Hoskins, head of the AA810 restoration project, revealed that they were initially seeking £1.2 million to complete the project. Thanks to visitor pledges, they are now close to achieving this goal.

Hoskins emphasized the aircraft's historical significance, mentioning its connection to those involved in the 'Great Escape' and its record of 52 hours of operational front-line flying. He expressed optimism about having the aircraft back in the air by 2026, citing the overwhelming interest from hundreds of visitors who came to see AA810.

The event also featured a public voting segment where attendees could choose their favourite car. The People’s Choice award, presented in association with Hagerty, was won by a 1956 Ferrari 500 TR. This segment added an interactive element to the event, engaging visitors and celebrating automotive excellence.

Concours on Savile Row showcased British style and craftsmanship, supported by Westminster City Council, The Pollen Estate, and sponsors including EFG Private Bank, Aranyani, Hagerty, Royal Academy of Arts, Blick Rothenberg, and Magneto magazine. Their backing was crucial in making the event a success.
