BYD Seal Electric Sedan Garners Over 1000 Bookings In India
BYD's Seal, a premium electric sedan, has garnered significant interest in India, with over 1000 bookings received since its launch. The first 500 bookings were made within the first 15 days, followed by an additional 500 bookings over the past two months.
Priced at ₹53 lakhs ex-showroom and ₹60 lakhs on-road, the Seal is one of the most expensive electric cars available in India. It comes in three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance, each offering varying range and performance.

The Dynamic variant produces 204 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, with a range of 510 km on a single charge. It uses a 61.4 kWh battery pack.
The Premium variant offers a range of 650 km on a single charge, thanks to its 82.5 kWh battery pack. It produces 313 bhp and 360 Nm of torque.
The Performance variant, the most powerful version of the Seal, also uses an 82.5 kWh battery pack and provides a range of 580 km on a single charge. It is an all-wheel-drive car with 530 bhp and 670 Nm of torque.
Besides its impressive range and performance, the Seal boasts various safety features, including nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
Tech features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting.
The BYD Seal can be charged using a 150 kW charging point, which allows it to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 37 minutes. Alternatively, an 11 kW AC charger can be used, but it takes over 8.5 hours for a full charge.
The Seal is available in four colours: Arctic Blue, Aurora White, Atlantis Gray, and Cosmos Black.
DriveSpark Thinks
The tremendous response to the BYD Seal in India is surprising, especially considering its high price point. However, its premium features, high range, and advanced safety features seem to have resonated well with Indian consumers.
