Citroën Reveals All-New C3 Aircross For Europe
Citroën has released the first images of the all-new C3 Aircross for Europe as it looks to shake up the compact SUV segment in the old continent.
The new C3 Aircross for Europe shares the same design, and features list as the European-spec C3 hatchback and like its hatch sibling is also built on the same Smart Car platform to help keep costs down.
The new C3 Aircross represents a significant change in scope for compact SUVs. The new C3 Aircross boasts a more assertive character, increased interior space with the option for up to 7 seats, an expanded range of engine choices, and the same level of comfort as its predecessor.
The updated design incorporates Citroën's new style language, with the brand's new logo prominently displayed on the upright grille which is flanked on either side by the three-segment LED lighting setup that surrounds the headlights.
The front bumper is different to the C3 hatchback for Europe and it features a contrast paint section on the lower section which like the paint on the quarter panel is customizable.
Other highlights include the contrast roof, flared wheelarches that host some snazzy wheels, and the plastic cladding that runs across the lower section of the SUV. The rear section looks similar to the European C3, however, the Aircross does feature a bespoke set of taillights that are connected to the Citroen badge in the centre by a section of black plastic.
Details about the rest of the C3 Aircross are expected to be released ahead of its launch later this summer in Europe. However, we expect the C3 Aircross to retain the interior design of its hatchback sibling with a floating infotainment touchscreen system and a smaller digital display for the instrumentation.
With a length of 4.3 metres, the new C3 Aircross will be the first vehicle in its segment in Europe to offer 7 seats. However, the last row of seats will be foldable like the ones seen on the India-spec C3 Aircross.
Citroen has revealed that the new C3 Aircross will feature electrification including both hybrid and full EV options. We expect the new European-spec C3 Aircross to share its powertrain options with the C3 hatchback for Europe.
So expect a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine with 99bhp on tap along with a hybrid version of the same engine that offers up to 128bhp on tap. The all-electric version of the C3 Aircross is also expected to share its powertrain with the European e-C3, so expect a 99bhp electric motor and a 44kWh battery pack.
Thoughts About The Citroen C3 Aircross For Europe
The European-spec C3 Aircross SUV borrows most of its features from the C3 hatchback while differentiating itself from its sibling in terms of styling and practicality, the latter thanks to the increased length on offer.
