Over 86% Of Classic Cars Sold At H&H Classics July Auction

H&H Classics' recent auction on 24th July saw an impressive 86 per cent of classic, collector, and performance cars sold, totalling over £1.32 million. The event attracted a packed saleroom at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, with hundreds more participating online or via phone. Bidders from Australia, Malaysia, and the USA joined in, while successful bids came from France, Italy, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.

The highlight of the auction was a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL that fetched £139,500. This UK-market car had been fully restored and owned for 50 years. It exceeded its lower estimate by £40,000. Another notable sale was a former UK press fleet Audi Quattro UR. Freshly overhauled, it sold for £56,250, surpassing its lower estimate by over £16,000.

James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, expressed satisfaction with the auction results. "We’re delighted with the results in our latest auction," he said. "They show that the market remains lively, not just in the UK but around the world too." He thanked everyone involved for creating a wonderful atmosphere on the day.

An Aston Martin DB6 project also drew significant interest. Despite needing further work to complete it to the new owner's specifications, it sold for £76,500. A 1967 Mercedes-Benz 230SL followed closely behind in value terms, selling for £69,750.

The pre-war selection included a 1929 Lagonda 2-litre Tourer with extensive history and long-term ownership. It sold for £51,750, well above its £40,000 lower estimate. Among post-war vehicles, a fully restored 1959 Ford Zephyr achieved £20,812.

A collection from the late David Lucas featured British classics from the 1920s to the 1980s. All required restoration or renovation and were offered at no-reserve. Highlights included a 1936 Armstrong-Siddeley 17hp Foursome Drophead Coupe selling for £8,550 and a 1964 Triumph Herald 1200 Coupe fetching £6,975.
