Hitachi Payment Services And AbhiBus Introduce Integrated Ticketing Management For Himachal Road Transport
Hitachi Payment Services, a leader in payments and commerce solutions, has forged a partnership with AbhiBus, a top bus booking platform in India, to launch a pioneering Integrated Ticketing Management System (IMTS) for Himachal Pradesh's state-run buses. This groundbreaking initiative is set to revolutionize how over 1.5 crore passengers each month utilize public transportation in the region, by offering cashless ticketing options and improving the overall travel experience.
The implementation of this cashless ticketing system allows travelers to enjoy a host of conveniences. They can now check seat availability in real-time, secure their bookings in advance, and make payments through a variety of digital methods including debit/credit cards, UPI, QR code, prepaid wallets, and NCMC cards.

The system leverages GPRS-enabled Electronic Bus Ticketing Machines (EBTM), ensuring passengers can obtain tickets and make payments while on the move. Even those eligible for free or discounted travel can benefit from this system, using their smart card pass to acquire the correct ticket directly from the bus conductor.
Enhancing Public Transport with Digital Solutions
Anuj Khosla, CEO - Digital Business at Hitachi Payment Services, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, "Our collaboration with AbhiBus for the Integrated Ticketing Management System will create a new ticketing experience for state public transport users in Himachal. Through our innovative offerings, we continue to transform the transit sector and empower citizens with secure and convenient digital payments."
Echoing this sentiment, Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer at AbhiBus, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, "We are delighted to partner with HRTC and Hitachi Payment Services for this prestigious project. This partnership enhances travel with instant ticketing, digital ease, and a superior booking experience for over 3,100+ buses. Himachal Pradesh is now at the forefront of digital bus travel."
Stakeholders Celebrate Milestone in Transportation

He noted, "The implementation of an Integrated Ticketing Management System is a significant milestone for us. It allows us to access real- time bus schedules, not only alleviating traffic congestion but also enhancing safety measures.
He added, "Furthermore, the introduction of digital payments holds great importance, not just for passengers, but also for the hardworking conductors who meticulously account for every penny at the end of each trip, ultimately saving valuable time."
This initiative places Himachal Pradesh amongst a privileged group of states embracing technology to digitalize their transport services. It marks a transformative step for HRTC by integrating and digitalizing their ticketing systems, which is expected to significantly enhance the commuting experience for passengers.
The move not only positions the state as a pioneer in adopting digital solutions for public transport but also exemplifies the commitment of local authorities and corporations to leverage technology for public good.
The collaboration between Hitachi Payment Services and AbhiBus to introduce a cashless Integrated Ticketing Management System for HRTC buses represents a major advancement in public transportation. It promises to streamline the ticketing process, offer a range of payment options, and vastly improve the travel experience for millions of passengers, embodying a significant leap towards digitalization and efficiency in public transport services within Himachal Pradesh.
