Honda Cars India Registers 17% Sales Growth In February – Elevate SUV Stays True To Its Name
Honda Cars India reported a significant surge in its sales figures for February 2024, registering a 17% growth in the domestic market with sales reaching 7,142 units. This impressive performance is notably driven by the likes of the Honda Elevate SUV and the Honda City sedan.
Furthermore, Honda's export numbers have also seen a significant improvement, with a record 510% growth, marking the highest monthly export volume at 5,936 units. All of this is helped by the success of the Elevate SUV.

Speaking about the Honda Elevate, the SUV competes against models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
Following the success of the Honda Elevate SUV in India, Mr Yuichi Murata, Director of Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India Ltd., expressed satisfaction with the February sales, highlighting the robust performance of their exports as well.

Looking ahead, Honda Cars India is concentrating on expanding its product line-up, including the development of an electric version of the Elevate. However, the company has clarified that it will not introduce a hybrid or electric powertrain for the Elevate in the Indian market.
Currently, the Honda Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine, capable of producing 119bhp at 6,600 rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. It is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.

Though the engine may not boast headline power output figures, it does turn out to be quite fuel efficient with fuel efficiency figures of 15.31km/l for the manual variant and 16.92km/l for the automatic versions.
Thoughts About Honda's Growth In India
Despite the growing interest in electric vehicles, the company's current performance and strategic outlook hold promise for sustaining growth and expanding its market presence in India. Also, we expect Honda to focus more on hybrid tech and hydrogen fuel cell technology instead of opting to go with EVs.
