Honda Donates 40 Generators And Funds For Hurricane Helene Recovery Efforts In North Carolina

Honda is stepping up its efforts to assist those impacted by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. The company is donating 40 EU3200i portable generators to the American Red Cross. These generators will help families who are still without power due to flooding caused by the hurricane. This donation follows a previous commitment of $500,000 made on October 3 by Honda's American companies, including Honda North Carolina and Honda Aircraft Company.

Honda's EU3200i generator, weighing under 60 pounds, is the lightest in its 3000-watt series. It offers reliable power for essential household items like furnaces and refrigerators. Honda Powersports dealers in North Carolina have received these generators and are preparing them for distribution through the American Red Cross.

Honda Supports Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

In addition to providing generators, Honda is donating 700 Engineering Learning Lunchboxes to the Greensboro Science Center. These kits aim to support students in Western North Carolina who have been displaced or are learning from home due to the hurricane. Each kit offers up to 10 hours of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities to help bridge educational gaps.

Beyond corporate donations, Honda and Acura Financial Services are offering payment extensions and lease deferrals for customers affected by the disaster. Furthermore, Honda encourages its employees to participate in relief efforts through matching fund and volunteer programs.

Honda began its U.S. operations with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in 1959. Today, it employs over 30,000 people across various sectors such as development, manufacturing, sales, and service support for Honda and Acura vehicles, power equipment, powersports products, and the HondaJet advanced light jet.

The company operates 12 major manufacturing facilities in the U.S., collaborating with 620 suppliers nationwide. This network produces a wide range of products using both domestic and globally sourced parts. In 2023, 70% of all Honda and Acura cars sold in the U.S. were made locally.

Honda also invests heavily in research and development with 23 facilities across America where many of its products are designed and engineered. This commitment ensures that production remains close to its customer base while maintaining high standards of innovation.
