Indian Oil Corporation Unveils Storm-X Fuel For Motorsports
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has introduced a new high-octane fuel, Storm-X, specifically for racing cars and bikes. This fuel is designed to meet the needs of motorsports, including Formula One. The Paradip refinery in Odisha, known for its advanced technology, produced the first batch of this fuel.
The initial delivery of Storm-X was made to the Madras International Circuit in Chennai last weekend. This high-octane fuel is intended for use in both domestic and international motor racing events.

IOCL has partnered with two major motorsport organisers: the Federation Internationale De Motocyclisme (FIM) and the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). These partnerships will last for three years.
Storm-X Fuel Development
The IndianOil Research & Development Centre in Faridabad developed Storm-X. Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman at IndianOil, stated, "The fuel stands as a symbol of innovation and excellence, embodying our relentless pursuit of developing specialised fuels that meet stringent international standards. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening the 'Make in India' initiative on the global stage."

Storm-X is a blend of high-octane gasoline streams with advanced sustainable components like 2G Ethanol. It has been certified by Bureau Veritas from Dubai.
The IOC recently delivered over 50 barrels of this fuel to power racing cars and bikes participating in the third and fourth rounds of the Indian National Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit during the ongoing 2024 season.

IOC's Fuel Offerings
The IOC currently offers petrol and diesel in India for various vehicles. These are available in regular and premium variations. The standard fuel has an octane number of 87, while premium options include 91-octane petrol.
Additionally, IOC provides three types of premium fuels: XP95 petrol with 95 octane, XP100 petrol with 100 octane aimed at luxury vehicles, and XtraGreen diesel which promises better mileage and reduced pollution.
In addition to its new high-octane offering, IOC has also partnered with the Madras Motor Sports Club. This collaboration ensures that Storm-X will be used in upcoming racing events at the Madras International Circuit.
The launch of Storm-X represents a significant milestone for IOCL as it continues to innovate within the fuel industry. By catering to high-end motorsports events both domestically and internationally, IOCL aims to strengthen its position as a leading fuel provider.

This development aligns with India's broader 'Make in India' initiative by showcasing homegrown technological advancements on a global platform. The introduction of Storm-X not only highlights IOCL's commitment to innovation but also underscores its role in supporting sustainable practices within the automotive industry.
