Kia Seltos Second Generation Update: Design Changes & Hybrid Technology
The Kia Seltos, launched in August 2019, has become a key player in the mid-size SUV market. Its modern design and extensive features have made it a standout model. This vehicle accounts for over 48% of Kia's sales in India, highlighting its importance to the brand. Additionally, it leads in connected car technology, contributing 65% of Kia's connected car sales.
Recently, images of the second-generation Seltos undergoing road tests have emerged online. The prototype is heavily camouflaged, but changes at the front and rear are noticeable. These updates seem to mirror recent modifications seen on the Hyundai Creta. The new Seltos might also incorporate elements from Kia's EV5 concept car.

Last year, Kia introduced a mid-life update for the Seltos, adding features like Level 2 ADAS technology. Connected car variants are in high demand, making up 57% of all Seltos sales. This trend underscores the growing importance of connectivity features for customers.
The Indian market is expected to retain the 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel, and 1.5L turbo petrol engines for the Seltos. However, Kia might introduce a hybrid powertrain to widen its appeal and attract more buyers. Additional enhancements could also be seen in the list of available accessories.
Kia plans to launch the Syros SUV in 2025. Alongside this, they are working on an electric version of the Carens and a facelift for its ICE variant.

Over five years, the Seltos has helped establish Kia as a significant player in India's automotive sector. Its success has made Kia the fifth-largest car manufacturer in India. While we await more details on the new Seltos' design, it is expected to feature a complete redesign with changes to headlamps and bumpers.
Kia's updates demonstrate their commitment to innovation and meeting consumer demands by expanding their lineup. These new models and updates are likely to increase customer interest in India. The introduction of hybrid technology could attract mileage-conscious buyers, potentially expanding Kia's customer base.
