Mahindra's Saarthi Abhiyaan Initiative Provides 1,000 Scholarships For Daughters Of Truck Drivers
Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), part of the Mahindra Group, has introduced a scholarship programme for the daughters of truck drivers. This initiative, announced on Drivers Day 2024, is part of the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan. The aim is to support these girls in pursuing higher education, thereby contributing positively to their lives.
The scholarship offers Rs.10,000 and a certificate to each selected candidate. This effort is part of Mahindra's ongoing commitment to the truck driver community, which began with the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan in 2014. The programme will reach over 75 transport hubs across India through a transparent process. So far, 10,029 girls have benefited from this initiative.
Empowering Future Generations
Mr. Vinod Sahay, President of Trucks, Buses, CE, Aerospace & Defence Businesses at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., stated that the initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for truck drivers' daughters. "Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, we are not just providing scholarships but opening doors to a brighter future and instilling hope in young hearts," he said.
Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Business Head – Commercial Vehicles at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., highlighted the broader impact of this initiative. He mentioned that it not only uplifts these young women but also encourages new opportunities and motivation within the commercial vehicle sector. "Our sustained commitment through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan not only uplifts the daughters of truck drivers but also fosters a culture of new opportunities and motivation," he remarked.
Recognition and Support
The company plans to award each girl with Rs.10,000 via direct bank transfer along with a certificate as recognition for their achievement. The awards will be distributed between February and March 2025 at select locations by leaders from Mahindra Truck and Bus Division. A total of 1,000 scholarships will be granted during this period.
