Maruti Suzuki Baleno Holds Strong Despite Sales Dip In Early 2024
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno remains a favourite among Indian car buyers. Its sales data for the first half of 2024 (January-June) has been published. Maruti Suzuki sold 94,521 Baleno units during this period. However, this is a 6% drop from the 1,00,107 units sold in the same period in 2023.
Despite the decline, the Baleno still holds the 3rd spot in the top 10 best-selling cars in India for the first half of 2024. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes equipped with a 1.2-litre engine that generates 90 PS power and 113 Nm torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The same engine is also available in the CNG variants of the Baleno. However, when running on CNG, it produces just 77.50 PS and 98.50 Nm. This version comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Even though the CNG variant has lower power output and lacks an AMT option, it offers impressive mileage. Maruti Suzuki claims that this engine delivers a mileage of 30.61 km/kg. On the other hand, the petrol/manual variants provide a mileage of 22.35 km/litre, while the petrol/AMT variants offer slightly better at 22.94 km/litre.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is currently priced between ₹6.66 lakhs and ₹9.83 lakhs (ex-showroom). These competitive prices make it an attractive alternative to other hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza in India.
DriveSpark Thinks
Thanks to the upcoming festive season, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback might see an increase in sales in the latter half of 2024. This could help it regain its growth momentum in the country.
That being said, despite a slight dip in sales, the sales figures suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Baleno continues to be a strong contender in India's hatchback market. Its variety of engine options and competitive pricing contribute to its popularity among consumers.
