Ringbrothers Unveils Custom-Built 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer TUKA With Unique Features
Ringbrothers, a renowned custom car builder, has introduced its latest creation, the "TUKA," a custom 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. This unique vehicle combines off-road capability with urban sophistication. The TUKA is part of Ringbrothers' esteemed lineup of K5 Blazers and showcases their meticulous attention to detail.
The TUKA project involved over 3,700 hours of work to enhance the original lines and proportions of the K5 Blazer. The tailgate and box sides were raised by two inches to align with the door height, creating a seamless profile. A hand-built fiberglass rear top incorporates a panoramic roof from a modern Blazer, while the rear window was adapted from a Jeep Wrangler.
Under the carbon-fiber hood of TUKA lies a powerful 525-horsepower GM Performance 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine. This engine delivers 487 ft-lbs of torque through a Bowler Tru-Street GM 4L60E automatic transmission and NP208 transfer case. The vehicle features class-leading chassis components from a third-generation Tacoma, including modified independent front suspension and custom rear suspension with King shocks.
The bespoke interior of TUKA was designed by Sean Smith and crafted by Gabe Lopez's team at Gabe’s Custom Interiors. It features a carbon-fiber dashboard with Dakota Digital instrumentation and billet-machined switchgear. The cabin also includes a 3D-printed gear selector, handbrake, and carbon-fiber steering wheel.
"Almost every piece of this Blazer is custom," stated Ringbrothers co-founder Mike Ring. "We wanted to leave no stone unturned in creating something wholly unique, designed to embrace the open road and the unbeaten path." The TUKA is built for stylish driving with modern comfort.
The exterior bodywork is finished in Galactic Black using BASF Glasurit Waterborne paint. TUKA rides on custom 18-inch bronze wheels from HRE, featuring a spare tire mount behind the rear seat. These elements contribute to its distinctive appearance.

Jim Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers, explained that TUKA combines their knowledge of the platform with updated underpinnings for both on-road and off-road use. "This project is all about crafting something new and highly functional from a tried, true and familiar K5 that can be used daily while no stranger to playing in the dirt," he said.
