Stellantis Rolls Out Free2move Charge Options For BEV Buyers: Home Or Credits

Stellantis has introduced a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) purchase package, offering customers the choice between an at-home charging station or charge credits via Free2move Charge. This initiative aims to simplify the transition to electric vehicles for consumers.

"With our fully electric vehicles now arriving in the U.S. market, starting with the Fiat 500e, and the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona coming soon, our customers will quickly realize that our BEVs will carry the same brand DNA that our customers have grown to love, but with electrification and next level technology," said Carlos Zarlenga, COO, Stellantis. "Electrification is a game changer. Yes, our customers will see efficiency gains, but they will also experience incredible performance advancements, including technology, ride and handling, giving our brands, such as Jeep, greater off-road capabilities and defending the Dodge Charger's claim as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car."

The Free2move Charge Home Package includes a Level 2 charging unit valued at approximately $600. This allows owners to charge their vehicle conveniently at home. The app also advises on optimal charging times to avoid peak rates.

Installation of the home charging station involves three simple steps: accessing the installation portal through the Free2move Charge website, answering questions about the location for the charging station and uploading photos for a commitment-free estimate from Qmerit.com. Finally, scheduling an appointment for installation completes the process.

The Free2move Charge Go Package offers $600 in charging credits for those who prefer public charging stations. The app provides access to over 75,000 charge ports across the U.S., making it easy to find and pay for charging on-the-go.

Customers can use these credits at public DC and Level 2 chargers nationwide. The app helps locate nearby EV charging locations and manage charging history and remaining credits balance.

"As we introduce our all-electric vehicles this year in the U.S., we want to ensure that our customers easily understand the charging options available to them before or upon purchase," said Mathilde Lheureux, head of energy and charge business unit. "Simply stated, included in the purchase of a Stellantis battery-electric vehicle is the ability choose a Free2move Level 2 charging unit or charging credits with a value of $600 to use at charging stations across the country, which are easily identifiable through the app."

Expanding Charging Infrastructure

Stellantis plans to expand its infrastructure through 2024. A joint venture with IONNA aims to deploy at least 30,000 in-network chargers in North America by 2026.

The company’s BEV models currently feature J1772 charging ports. Starting with select models launching in North America for 2026, Stellantis will adopt the SAE J3400 connector.

The Free2move Charge website and app guide consumers through buying BEVs and understanding their charging options. Available on Apple and Google app stores in both U.S. and Canada, these tools aim to make electrification straightforward.

Stellantis' new Charging & Energy Business Unit manages this comprehensive ecosystem of electric-vehicle solutions. This initiative aligns with Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 plan targeting carbon net zero mobility by 2038.

Customers can reserve or order new BEVs like the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S or 2024 Fiat 500e now. Other upcoming models include the Dodge Charger Daytona and Ram 1500 REV.

This effort underscores Stellantis' commitment to providing clean mobility solutions while enhancing performance capabilities across its iconic brands like Jeep and Dodge.
