Suzuki Unveils 10-Year Tech Plan For A Carbon-Neutral Future
Suzuki Motor Corporation is driving towards a carbon-neutral future with a new technology strategy focused on reducing energy consumption throughout a vehicle's lifecycle, from manufacturing to recycling. This plan aligns with their commitment to making transportation accessible and enjoyable globally.
Building Lighter, Cleaner Vehicles
A core aspect of Suzuki's strategy is lightweight vehicle design. Their "HEARTECT" platform, proven for safety and passenger protection, underpins many of their vehicles. Lighter cars not only reduce emissions during driving but also require fewer resources and create less pollution during production.

Electric and Hybrid Options Tailored for Each Market
Suzuki is making significant investments in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). They plan to launch five new electric cars by 2024 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Recognizing the varying availability of renewable energy sources globally, Suzuki will develop EVs with a focus on minimizing energy consumption. This will involve efficient electric motors paired with lightweight batteries.
Highly Efficient Engines with Clean Fuel Options
The company is also committed to improving internal combustion engine (ICE) technology. Their Z12E engine boasts a remarkable 40% thermal efficiency, achieved through advanced combustion techniques.
Suzuki plans to extend this technology worldwide and further minimize emissions by exploring carbon-neutral fuels and next-generation hybrid systems.
Software-defined Vehicles for Efficiency and Convenience
Suzuki is developing "SDV Right," a system designed to maximize the benefits of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This system focuses on minimizing energy consumption through over-the-air (OTA) software updates, both wired and wireless.
Embracing a Circular Economy for Resource Conservation
Moving beyond a traditional linear economic model, Suzuki is adopting a circular economy approach. They are designing vehicles for easy disassembly and recycling, reducing waste and resource consumption.
Electrifying India
India, Suzuki's largest market, is a key focus for their electric vehicle push. They aim to launch six electric vehicles by 2030. In addition to battery EVs, Suzuki will offer a range of carbon-neutral internal combustion engine vehicles powered by CNG, biogas, and ethanol fuels, providing a comprehensive selection for Indian consumers.
With this technology roadmap, Suzuki is well-positioned to navigate the evolving automotive landscape while promoting a sustainable future for transportation.
