Electric Mobility: Tata's Plan With New EVs And Charging Network By 2026
Tata Motors will introduce four electric vehicles (EVs) by FY26. The company plans to launch the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in FY25. Following this, the Sierra EV and Avinya models will debut in FY26. The Indian manufacturer is also enhancing its charging network.
Avinya EV
The Avinya EV is based on the Gen 3 platform, utilising lightweight materials. This design aims to reduce the overall mass, potentially offering over a 500 km range. The Avinya may feature dual electric motors for all-wheel drive, with a possible quad-motor setup in the production version.

Charging Network Expansion
Tata Motors is expanding its public charging network from over 10,000 chargers to more than 1 lakh by FY30. The community charging network will also grow from 4,300+ to 1 lakh chargers by the same year. This expansion supports the increased EV adoption in India.
Advanced Features
The new EVs will have high-energy density batteries capable of fast charging. Tata Motors will offer high-performance electric motors and all-wheel drive options. The vehicles will feature new displays with EV-specific interfaces, OTA upgradability, connected car technology, and in-car app suites.

Vehicle-to-Vehicle Charging
The EVs will support vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging, frunk space, and driving modes. These features enhance the utility and convenience of Tata’s new electric vehicles.
Tata Curvv EV
The Curvv EV will offer a claimed range of 500 km in its top-spec model. Tata Motors is expected to provide a lower-spec version with a reduced range. The Curvv EV will debut in FY25 alongside the Harrier EV.

Tata Sierra EV
Tata is reintroducing the Sierra nameplate for an upcoming SUV. The design patent has been filed, indicating a 4x4 system in the original Sierra. The Sierra EV is expected to feature an electric all-wheel drive system, staying true to its heritage.
The introduction of these new EVs and the expansion of the charging network highlight Tata Motors' commitment to advancing electric mobility in India. With cutting-edge technology and extended range capabilities, Tata aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to the Indian market. This strategic move aligns with the Indian government's goal of increasing the adoption of electric vehicles to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels.
